In poetry a verse is called a paragraph. 

In verse 2-4 it the feeling makes me feel bad because he is feeling guilty.

Those verses 6-8 made me feel thrilled a bit because instead of using all of the sad things he did in war, he used the happy things he did instead. 

Grandpa didn't include all of the bad things that were coming into his mind from what had happened in war.

I found difficult trying to figure out the describing words for the way he is feeling and the pictures that need to be used to described the way he is feeling.
