Today, for cross country preparation, room 7 did a lot of exercising. First we did some stretches for our warm up and Mrs Parker told us that we had to jog two laps around the verdant-green field. As I started to jog, I felt a little chilly as I was jogging but as I kept on jogging i was all of a sudden really warm like there was a invisible air blanket on me. I could hear the wind as I turned my face. My feet felt numb as I created footprints in mud. As I ran, I got a stitch which made me to go a little bit slower, continued jogging. I was up to me last lap then stopped at the finish line near all the people who finished. But I still had to wait for the others that still needed to finish. When I sat down, I had a little rest then did some stretches to warm down. As I raced to put on my shoes, we all ran to class very tiredly. I felt exhausted as I sat down in class waiting for the rest of the class to come in and sit on the mat.
I am a Year 6 student at Glenbrae School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 7 and my teacher is Mrs. Parker

Preparing for cross country

Basketball!
Basketball
On the 5th May 10:20am Room 7 had basketball on the courts. Our coaches name is Chanel but we just called her Chanel. Room 7 plays basketball every Tuesday to learn some new skills. Every week we learn even more skills which is cool.
The warm up that we did is called ball handling, it is really cool and tricky at the same time. What we had to do in this warm up is we got a ball and we had to circle it around our legs and tummy. When I did it I dropped the ball twice but it was still a very fun activity.
We played three games that were similar to other games but different at the same time. The first game we played was dribble tag, that game was really cool and hard at the same time. What we had to do in the game is we had to find ourselves a partner and the one with the ball had to be the tagger and and speed walk after the other partner. The thing is we couldn't run we could only speed walk. It was a really hard and awesome game.
The next game we played is called Ship, Shark, Shore I liked this game but it was very tiring. What we had to do in the game is we had to get into the middle of one court and if ‘ship’ was called out we had to run towards the field and if ‘shark’ was called we had to run towards the junior block. But if ‘shore was called we could go to any side. As I was playing I got tired from running back and forth. Coach Chanel let us go have a drink.
This game that we played is called Octopus, i’m pretty sure that everyone has played this game, but this way to play is different. The way we played it was we had to dribble the ball to tag someone and if we don’t dribble the ball and tag someone they are not in. But if we do tag them while we are dribbling they become seaweed, when someone becomes seaweed they are allowed to just take one step to try and tag someone.
Today I really enjoyed basketball even though it was tiring, it was still very cool. I hope I have as much fun next week too.
