Splash!

A few days ago I arrived in Whangarei with my family. We have been going to different kinds of beaches, places and a lot more fun thing. Yesterday, I went to the Whangarei Pools. It was amazing, because every 10 minutes or so HUGE waves appear out of no where. It felt like I was on a beach. I also went do the slide with my cousin. There was a black slide and a blue side, I wanted to go in the black one because it looked dark. As I was going through the slide, it felt like an illusion. I also felt dizzy as I got out of the slide. When I got off the slide, I went outside to the diving board with my cousins. There was a small board, A medium and a very very high one. I jumped off the very high one a few times. It was very scary. After a while at the pools we decided that it was time to go home. When we got home I had a shower then feel asleep, I was very tired.

Cyber Smart

In room 7 we have been doing reading activities. Kakapo reading group has been working on being cyber smart and leaving a positive digital footprint. We had to make a poster about what we should do on the internet and what we shouldn't write on the internet. I have created this piece of art work using google draw with a few colours and pictures.

2015 Reflection

Today, I had to do a reflection on this year. I had to wrote down what I have learned, what I liked learning about and what I would like to continue working on. I reflected different things I have done this year.

This year I did my learning with Mrs Parker in a netbook classroom using Google Drive.

Having a netbook made it easier to do research and learning independently. When you need to do a lot of learning  & research, a netbook becomes very useful. A netbook makes a lot of things easier because you can send a doc to other people, blog your work and a lot more.

This year I learned different kinds of things, like how to blog my learning and using good words in a blog post. I learned how to do a lot of things on google drive and blog.

I did research on  the solar system, War and a lot more other subjects.

The things I enjoyed learning about the most was World War 1 & 2 because I found out a lot of things from World War like, they stayed in trenches, food supplies were low and a lot of other interesting facts about War.

I still want to learn more about planets because as I want to become an astronomer or astronaut.

The class trip/activity I enjoyed most this year was having a very kind and humorous teacher because she is a very funny and vibrant teacher to have. The best trip, well I think it was the best trip was going to Interschool sports days. I love going out of my school to represent it and make them proud by going to interschool events.

I am proud of the way I have achieved my goals and now I can set new ones. I have learned a lot of new things that I had no idea about.

Next year I am going to set new goals and try to be more successful. Next year I am going to try and achieve my goals by the end of the year.

Writing with Whittaker's

Have you ever just had a total meltdown while staring at a  Whittaker's Hokey Pokey chocolate. All your doing is staring at it, but it’s so hard to resist. You wait until you can eat the melting deliciousness. When you take the first bite,  it melts in your mouth and it’s such a great sensation. As it slides down your throat like a Chocolate Waterfall. Well, on the 3rd of December, I experienced that.

Today, Mrs Parker brought in a box that she has received from Whittaker’s for posting up a Whittaker’s Tart blog post. Oh did I tell you? Oh, well Mrs Parker received all this chocolate by making a Whittaker’s Tart, she posted it on twitter and Tagged Whittaker’s Chocolate Lovers and they talked about it. They talked for a while and the Whittaker’s Company decided to send her boxes filled with different kinds of chocolate. She brought it to school to share with Room 7 and do a project with us.

We all sat on the mat in a circle and waited for Mrs Parker to give us the delicious chocolate. When we got a piece of chocolate, Mrs Parker was reading out a ‘Chocolate Meditation’ to help us be really mindful while eating the chocolate. While she was reading that Chocolate Meditation Paper, it was kind of hypnotising because she made it sound so irresistible with the 5 senses.

When I took the first bite of my immaculate hokey pokey chocolate, I was transported into a chocolate dream, as it slipped down my throat like a chocolate waterfall. When I took the next huge bitch, eating the rest of my hokey pokey mini bar. I left it to melt on my tongue like a chocolate river that leads down a waterfall. The stream was ending and It left the taste of the sweet hokey pokey. The little bits of hokey pokey, sticks to my lips, as I lick my lips, it falls down my throat like rocks, awaiting to find the chocolate stream. When I finished my delicious mini bar, I thought if I should of eaten it more slowly. It was so irresistible.

What causes seasons and Why we have them.

Do you ever think about how we have seasons? I used to think about that all the time, but now I know how they work.

Seasons are caused on the tilt of the Earth’s axis. Half of the earth is leaning towards the sun meanwhile the other side is faced away from the sun, but as the Earth spins, the other side of the earth gets sunlight.

When it is Summer, the days get longer and the nights get shorter, but in winter, the days get shorter and the nights get longer, isn’t that confusing? The days are longer in summer because the Earth’s Southern hemisphere (Where I am) is faced towards the sun which direct heat, meanwhile the Northern Hemisphere is having winter.

The seasons all depend on the sun, the tilt of the Earth’s axis and the way the Earth rotates. Without seasons the Earth would probably be boring and cold. There would be no fun too.

Stardome Observatory

Today, the senior students of Glenbrae School got to go on a school trip to the Stardome Observatory. What we had to do first was sit down outside of the Observatory and have a 10 minute snack time. I sat down with a group of friends and my mum, she also came along on the trip.  Room 7 and Room 8 went inside of Stardome first while room 9 and 10 stayed outside until we were done. We went inside and saw all of the exhibits and presentations. Room 7 went inside of a room called the 'Space Room,'. Inside of the Space Room, there was a lady waiting in there for us, I forgot her name but she told us a lot of information.  We learned a lot about how the Solar System works, how the sun was formed and a lot more. I also learned that Venus is hotter than Mercury, even though Mercury is closer to the sun! After we had learned about the Solar System in the Space Room we went outside to the Room with all of the exhibits and got to look at everything and read a lot of facts. When we finished looking around, we got to go into another room but it was a different room. We all lined up and went into the room. There were a lot of seats and when I looked up there was a hole in the roof, but it wasn't really a hole, it was where we were going to watch the movie on. I went to the back and sat down, the seats are leaned back so that you can look into the sealing to watch the movie. We all took a seat while the show started. The lady told us some things about what we are going to watch. We all looked up as the movie started. The movie started with two children, one older sister and one smaller brother, the older sister was working on a project about the seasons and the little brother was playing with his toy robot. He bumped his robot into her project and crazy weathers and seasons were going on in her room, but most of it was just imagination. All of a sudden, her brother went to go get his toy space ship to go for an adventure into space to see how the seasons work. The trip to space was just using their imagination, but as they went into space they could see how the seasons work and she learned all about the Earth's axis. When they tried to go back home, they accidentally landed in Antarctica! They looked very cold, eventually they ended up getting home. When they did, she started to fix up her project and get it done. After that session we went outside while the other classes went inside for their turn. We had our lunch and play time. The classes were done, then finally it was time to go. I was very tired, so I fell asleep on my friends shoulder.
